BWV 891/2: Fugue 22 in Bb minor
(c) Yo Tomita, 1997
There survives no manuscripts pointing to a possible early version
of this piece.
Final Version (1744)
The 'London autograph' is the intermediate version. Bach copied from
the exemplar written in 3/4 metre, while transcribing into 3/2 metre here.
He later went back to enter further revisions into this lost manuscript.
Although there are some notable differences in their text, I have no intention
to present them in MIDI files at present.
This MIDI sequence is based on the 'London autograph' version of the
movement, integrating Bach's revision he later entered into the lost autograph .
Mozart's arrangement (c.1782)
This is a relatively unknown string arrangement by Mozart (see KV
405) who transcribed
it to C minor upto bar 39, which was later completed by Abbe Stadler (apparently
referring to a different exemplar, not closely related to the Viennese
sources of WTC II) .
